INSP4: The journey of a junior and a leader in the test team

September 28, 2022 from 13:35 to 2:15

Speaker: Martin Gazdík, BOOTIQ (SK)

Martin bumped into the SW testing role more than 10 years ago and now he is the brain of testers at BOOTIQ, part of the BiQ Group. He studied applied informatics at STU and began with testing even before graduating. Originally, Martin planned to develop mobile applications, but at that time he also started to test them, which quickly proved to be much more interesting for him. According to Martin, quality testing is a large part of the successful delivery and satisfaction of the client and customer. At BOOTIQ, he is responsible for the entire test stream. He leads a ten-member team of people, where he focuses on junior novices in the field, to whom he opens doors and passes on know-how on how to advance in testing.

Testing is an entrance gate to IT and also an opportunity for newcomers to get acquainted with the environment in which they can develop in other technical positions. If someone wants to start with IT, testing is the right choice. But what does it mean for a company to work with a junior? In his lecture The journey of a junior and a leader in the test team Martin will reveal what it is like to accept a junior into the test team, how to deal with a junior, and how to give him the right platform to grow into a valid member of the team. You will find out which path a beginner in IT has to take in order for it to be beneficial for both parties. At the same time, let’s look at the other side – how a leader must work on himself so that the juniors in his team are constantly advancing.
