TECH 4: Lessons learned in Mobile Crowdtesting

Prior to working as Lead QA Automation Engineer at Joyn, a German video streaming platform, Ron was engaged as Team Lead Agile & Mobile Testing at QualityMinds, a software test consultancy based in Germany and Poland. Having built up QA teams from scratch in various companies, he has spoken and keynoted at a variety of testing conferences and has a clear, no-nonsense view of how to test, what to test and – maybe most importantly – what not to test. Ron has been building automation frameworks for multiple projects and brings 15 years of working experience in software quality and delivery for mobile and web products. His passion is mobile testing, automation and AI.

Crowdtesting involves mostly real people, and partially testers, but at the end of the day it represents your product relevant user base – no test fatigue, blinkers or folks stuck in a rut. What’s more, we’re dealing with real devices – no emulators, no sterile lab conditions, instead we’re talking relevant mobile networks and real-life smartphone setups. Take this combined with your traditional test strategy, and crowd testing will give you a lot of freedom and fast top-notch product feedback. No automation needed! We will take a look at how this could also help your testing organization.
